TAS Puff N Chuff Issue

Yesterday the one loco, RK Commodore Vanderbuilt, ran for over an hour without this issue.  Maybe when I ran them before the speed was on the edge of being able to see individual smoke puffs and continuous smoke puffs.  

The other loco has very flakey speed control. Will try one more time to get it to run more predictable. If that fails it is getting upgraded to ERR and GRJs smoke boards.

I noticed the puff-n-chuff boards had that behavior, I believe it's related to a specific chuff speed.  I think I still have one or two in a box somewhere.

As a back up plan, Will your Chuff Generator work with the EOB board?

As long as you have a discrete digital chuff signal, the Super-Chuffer works fine.  If you have the P-n-C board I'm familiar with, it'll work fine.  Here's an illustration from the manual

Hi John,   Took me a few days to try to fully understand the connections on the boards in my loco so I can ask more specific questions.

I've decided to concentrate on one loco, a MTH RK 0-8-0.  

It has the TAS EOB board which uses the striped tape on the flywheel and sensor board for cruise control. Through programing it also sets and triggers the chuff I believe.

The EOB board has a chuff output and power output. The chuff output goes to the current Puff N Chuff board, the power output goes to the smoke unit to allow on/off control of the smoke.

Can the Super-Chuffer connect to these same connections for power and chuff signal?

That shouldn't be a problem, though I haven't personally wired one up to the TAS board.  The chuff output from the EOB that has that output is a digital signal that is frame ground referenced, that's all it has to be to make the Super-Chuffer happy.
