Hey Gang,

A while back, I replaced a TAS board with a new ERR board in an AtlasO GP-35. Back then, I wasn't interested in a having a smoke unit, so I left it out. Fast forward to yesterday when I was testing a smoking steamer to be received as a Christmas present. Well, I want a smoke unit in the locomotive now

So now that I'll be adding more wire into the cramped compartment of the shell, I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to tidy up the wiring. I use zip ties, which help, but the wiring still seems a little bulky in spots. Should I decrease the length of some wires? Should I make smaller bundles of wires?

Thanks for any input!

Not to pick on nice wiring in a 'trainmaster' but the issue becomes a really big deal when working on something like an 0-6-0 switch engine. My tip to prevent pinched wires is using a product called 'duct' seal which is used by electricians for a variety of reasons. It is grey, comes in a brick, and is plyable like silly putty but firms up after it sits a while, never hardening though.

Look at the attached pictures and you can see where I pressed wires out of the way from putting the cab back on.

Since I wasn't happy with the placement of the ERR CC and RS boards, I did a complete strip down of the locomtive. Here is a picture of the locomotive with the ERR and RS boards removed with the previous wiring. The lengths are a little excessive on most wires, so I'll shorten them.

I have to modify the the chasis by grinding out the raised metal supports that the old TAS board sat on. This will allow me to move the ERR board closer to the front of the locomotive so the RS board won't interfere with the Hot and Common wires coming from the rear truck.
