Just My opinion but I think it 's less than 5 seconds. I have an Old AM radio plugged into the same wall outlet as my tiu/ transformer.. I can hear the watch dog and other commands being sent . It sounds like short blasts from a machine gun. When does it go out... anytime the voltage is raised above zero on any channel.

I don't believe it goes  out much longer than 5 seconds.

A poor mans scope..any particular frequency?

Try issuing a few commands as well.. You can hear them as well.. Years ago I sent a Tiu & remote in for repair.  It  had taken a hit of high voltage and nothing worked. On return the remote could find the tiu (read) but no dcs signal anywhere.   I knew right away that there was no dcs signal anywhere on any channel with the radio test.  MTH replaced the tiu free of charge even though it was my  stupidly that fried the thing.
