A customer brought me a 6-18269 diesel which does not go into reverse either in conventional or command.  All of the sound functions work when the engine should be reversing but there is no indication either motor is getting power.  I measured the voltage across the motors in fwd and it is as I expect but in reverse it is zero.

Seems like the engine needs a new DCDR.  But at $100 plus shipping it seems that a ERR command set would be a better buy.  Will the LIONEL sound board integrate with the ERR mother board?

The problem is either the R2LC or the DCDS assuming it has Odyssey. Check the 4 pin JST connector between the motherboard and the DCDS which carries the direction signals. Make sure all pins connect to their respective boards. Then try another radio board. If still no joy, you can try another DCDS from another engine.  If it turns out the DCDS is bad you can replace it with an ERR Cruise M. You will be able to retain all the other boards.
