Hi everyone. This is my 1st try at this forum. I met a very nice guy via a train I was listing on eBay. after communicating for a while he said I wight get a response on this forum to try to get someone to look at this really nice train. The gentleman's name is John. I will not disclose his last name as I do not know what all is allowed on the forum. I bought this train which included a 4 x 8 layout. Got it home and after setup, tried to run train. Shut it down as smoke was coming from the tender. To shorten the story some, I tried for three months to find someone to look at it and see if it was reparable. It is an MTH 4-8-8-4 Big Boy but not really sure of the Number buy John thinks it may be a 30 series possibly a 30-1584-1.  I did buy a new MTH 4-8-8-4 30-1780-1 as I could not find anyone to work on the bad one. I set both of my Big Boy's beside one another and they are mostly identical. Now I'd like to know if someone out there would be willing to look at this beauty to see if it can be repaired. John says there are a lot of retired electrical engineers of the forum.  I hope I am doing this right, don't want to lose all this typing. I can add more later. Gonna try to attach couple pics.

It said I had success with 2 pics.

Jon G, thanks for the tip of "Stockyard Express" in Oberlin, Ohio. Got the Dead train ready to ship to them. It's shipping to them tomorrow morning. It seems like a dream come true as I spent 3-4 month's trying to find a repair shop who would work on the electronics. The man I talked to said it would be repaired as soon as they could get to it. Thanks again.
