transformer hookup | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I have a 1956--027 Lionel trainset. It has a American Flyer 4B transformer which 3 post marked Base, 7-16v 16v.

Is the Base post the ground to outside rail and the 7-16v the positive to center rail leaving the 16v for accessories?

Been a long time since I was a kid

hi what that means is the variable out is 7 to 16 volt ac and the fixed out put is only 16 volts ac ok

I would just check with a meter volt ohm meter or a light and you can tell when you connect to 2 terminals and the light is bright but when you are on the other terminal the light will change intensity as you adjust the know on the AF transformer if I remember right I believe the base one is the common one you use for both outputs ok
