The Type V was only produced from 1939 through 1941. Most are black with the word Trainmaster in red. Some are opposite as yours is.
It is unusual, but I'm not sure how rare it is. I've never seen a higher value assigned to it because of the color difference. I guess there aren't enough transformer collectors out there.
thanks guys. I thought it was just Prewar, but I saw on this site that they say the V was also available in '46&'47, not surprisingly.I did see a few red lettered ones on the bay. Not worried about value, just thought it was neat.One of those "do I really need it" moments, but the box and instructions pushed me into it.
