I have any number of PS/2 engines that operate just fine on my layout.  (22' x 23' using using Lionel Super O track)  I have purchased 2 PS/3 locomotives and one very late PS/2 locomotive which I have been unable to run.  ("engine not found")  These engines do run well on my dealer's layout (John Wilbeck, Riverview Trains).  All my software on my TIU and remotes is up to date.  I would really appreciate some help.....  Mike

Try using only a small piece of track connected to the TIU and nothing else (disconnect the layout). I'm guessing you mean these engines are not loaded into the remote, right? or Have you tried to use the read function? They might have been associated to the store's TIU when they were tested?

Can you use a working engine and do a signal strength test?

What model TIU are you using? If older, do you have bulbs attached?

What are you using for power? (not a Lionel CW80 I hope)

Thanks to everybody.  To Answer a few questions, my TIU is Rev. L, I'm using a ZW for track power, and I do have light bulbs attached.  I will do a signal strength test, to get a better picture.  I have lots of sidings and accessories, so I've always had to take my engines to my dealer's layout to load them into my remote.  These newer engines will load into my remote a my dealer's, but when I get them home, on my layout I get "Engine not found".  All my earlier Proto 2 engines run just fine.  I am building a small test track to try reloading some of them, per your thoughts.  I will check my DCS/DCC switches.  Again many thanks and if anybody has more thoughts, please let me know......

If it works at the dealers but not when you get it home I would suspect something on your layout isn't quite right? IMO it would be well worth getting a copy of Barry's 'DCS Companion' and checking your setup to the recommendations in the book. I did that on my layout 3 years ago and have not had a problem since. That is no DCS problem, I've had a few self induced problems, but they were all totally my fault!

Mine was was wiring problems, not installing any blocks to be specific. That certainly made a believer out of me!
