That's fantastic.  I'm usually one to keep quiet on here when it comes to real train discussions, but I got a chill watching the video on UP's site for the 4014 when she was just pulled out.  To see those workers standing next to those drivers, it brings it all into perspective.  I don' teven run legacy or any other fancy electronic stuff, but I've got my preorder in for the vision line Big Boy.   Always wanted one, so I figured what the heck.  Thanks for posting this.

Perhaps there are some people that are interested in seeing and documenting the progression of what was a static museum piece to what may eventually be a restored and operating engine.

 

Does it really matter what some people get pleasure from and others see as insignificant?  What ever floats your boat as they say.

The same people that will be purchasing Trains Mag special addition "Big Boy on the road to restoration"  Which I'm sure will have a lot of pics of a dead engine being moved in a special train two thousand miles.

Just my opinion, but a magazine with a lot of close-up photos and technical descriptions is a LOT different that a high-end Blu Ray DVD of a piece of machinery that doesn't make a sound, until she is rebuilt!

Why would someone want a video of the 4014 move? For the same reason they were so interested in the photos someone provided of that new roundhouse in Ohio while it was under construction. Wasn't a single locomotive in it......

 

Many folks like to monitor the progress of these important events involving the preservation of steam railroading. Purchasing a disc allows them to contemplate the progress of these projects at their will and convenience.

I fully agree about "following the progress" concept, especially during the disassembly and rebuild of #4014. However, a half dozen or a dozen nice still photos of her being towed dead back to Cheyenne should just about cover it, as the only thing that changes is the scenery. I still feel that a high-end Blu Ray DVD of a silent machine is a waste of time.
