Here is updated pics of my menards chessie hopper but got to get a new car this one has several places the paint is off . Here is a pic of mth thanksgiving boxcar.
As this will be our first holiday season without my father, I thought it would be appropriate to share these pictures of him taken almost 70 years ago. The day after Thanksgiving each year, he and my Grandfather would remove the furniture from the living room and set up a model railroad which would remain in place until after the New Year. Living in a moderately sized apartment in the Bronx precluded the building of a year round layout.
I created the following images using the original prints so please excuse any shortcomings in quality. Seen in the photos are some of our classics including the 260E, 226E, 250E and PRR B6sb. Enjoy!

I had a friend paint and letter these Tennessee Central 1937 AAR box cars for me. The box cars are very early Atlas O scale kits. I used modern Atlas O scale 3 3 rail trucks. The decals came from Proto Craft.
7055 is in the TC as delivered scheme. Car 501 is in the 1958 TC scheme.

the "Lincoln Log Cabin" was the first thing that caught my eye...wish i still had mine from the very, very early 1950's...

I think I wore out a set of Lincoln Logs...if that is even possible. I wish I had taken, or someone had taken pics of Dad and I, and my late Uncle with our trains over the years.

On the job:
Great pics everyone , I am away from my trains this week but their is plenty of action out in western Nebraska . I went for a early run and caught some Boeing cars going both directions . Empty ones to KC and the full ones to the west. 
I hurt my leg and so I am restricted to my wheelchair for a week or two......not complaining.....it's just stalled a few projects I had in progress.
This is one of the stalled projects.....but thought I'd tease the project a little as I hope to be back to 'normal' next week.

The Bedford Museum in Bedford, VA has an annual train layout. They were short on volunteers this year and they asked some of us at the VMT to help out.

Wow. That's is fantastic. Your dad and grandfather put a lot of work into that to make Christmas special. Thanks for sharing your memories and tribute to your dad. Personally would like to see more. On a side note: I bet your mother just loved them taking over the room like that .

The sunset Reading FP7s just got a holiday present, the King Coal passenger train by SGL Lines. These brass passenger cars are impressive, with beautiful body detail and interiors. The snack car even has a checkered floor.
This week we have the Pan AM Railways Business train in Waterville, Maine, BNSF on my layout and CSX engines at Pan Am Rigby Yard in South Portland, Maine.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again...they didn't call it the STANDARD RAILROAD OF THE WORLD for nothing!!!
