I wish they would make Edsels in hard top or sedans instead of convertibles with the top down on a auto loader.

If I get around to it, I might get the single stripe Grande RPO on P. 97.....did look

at the DT&I ore car (did the DT&I have those?...well, it did down at Southern Ohio

mines in its past, but that might have been in the Ohio Southern era before a group of little roads merged into the DT&I), and at the single stripe D&RGW  PA's, but I am holding out for the pre-WWII, pre-bumble bee black diesels and heavy weight cars, which nobody has made.  The Grande RPO car and the 2 car baggage/coach combination on that page could represent a Yampa Valley Mail configuration...several other road RPO's are offered, but none for MoPac, C,RI,&P, or Burlington or its subsidiaries that I could jump on...

Does anybody know for sure if the European 2-3-1 (Chapelon) is 1:43.5 or 1:48 scale?

On page 104, it's listed as 1:43.5 scale.  However, this appears to be an updated (PS-3, etc) version of the Premier 2-3-1 in the 2009 catalog, which is listed there as 1:48 scale.   Both 2009 and this latest listing are given as the exactly same length (23.25 inches). 

 

The 10% difference is scale is important to me: I have the 2-4-1 from the last year and while a lovely loco to look at when by itself, it just does not look right around 1:48 locos.  Even though, with the scale difference, it is still smaller than say the ATSF Northern 3759, it looks wrong - its 80 inch drivers are 88 inch es at 1:48, the cab is too big, etc. Just slightly doesn't fit on the layout next to all my scale locos.

You might try asking the question on the MTH Facebook page.  Answers to a lot of questions tend to be posted there since they keep up with that page on a frequent basis.

I've submitted the question.  No answer so far, but I will post whatever I get. 

 

I've never seen the MTh model up close, but after checking I'm 80% certain it is 1:43.5.   In Chapelon, Genius of French Steam, the drawings of the Etat 2-3-1 class show them to have been about 82-83 feet including tender.  The MTH model's advertised length of 23.25 inches works out to 84 feet at 1:43.5 (I suspect it is a very scale model with a slightly longer loco-tender gap that in reality).  At 1:48, the 23.25 inches works out to 93 feet, and while 2-3-1s no doubt varied in length a bit over the years, particularly after 1930 when Chapelon modified them, they never approached anything like 90 feet - only the 2-4-1s were that big.

I had a need for steam! So I ordered the Southern Pacific Lines GS-4 and the 5 car set plus the 2 add-on cars.

Also, NS Premier Heritage NYC and Pennsy and matching Cabooses. (The NYC Caboose is also going to go great with my NYC FT.)  

Looking at the Premier Pennsy GG-1, but have not convinced myself  as of yet.

   You might want to take a quick glance through all the pages.  Can one REALLY preorder any of the OCEM passenger car sets for just $54.00 ?  If so, I'll take three of each, scale wheels please.   There are some other 'slipped a digit, I think' errors there, too.

Agreed regarding the Daylight SD45 (technically it would be an SD44R).  I think it may be due to their incorrect first attempt using the SD40-2 back in the 90's.

 

One glaring error I noticed in the catalog picture is that it shows that it's a brake wheel version of the SD45, with the brake wheel on the far end of the long hood on the engineer's side.  The prototype 7399 actually had a brake lever (like the SD45T-2) and was mounted on the conductor side on the short hood.  The prototype SD45s were made both ways during its production run, so I wonder if MTH made the tooling modular so it can be done both ways on this model.
