I bought a few dozen metal fast angle wheels to replace my plastic ones (MPC era).  I probably should have just bought the metal wheelsets, but plain wheels were only a quarter a piece.  I tried doing a couple of axles on my vice with some spacers, but the problem is the getting even axle protrusion without damaging the axle ends (needle points). So I may end up spending more in the long run (I do that alot).

Any tips?  I've been searching for wheel cups, but the ones I'm finding are for locomotives.

Thanks,

Chris

For freight truck wheels I use an ST350-16 Binding Post Anvil in my arbor press, with a beat up Truck Rivet Anvil in the ram. Set a wheel, flange side up, on the ST350-16, line up the axle, and press it in. Flip it around, set the second wheel in place, line up the wheel and axle you just did, a little pressure and your done.
