I recently acquired an Atlas O Extended Vision caboose. The one that I have is the Santa Fe from the first run. The issue is that the board seems to have a very small capacitor or none at all as any dirty track gap will immediately cause the lights to go out. So, I’d like to add a passenger car lighting board to provide flicker free illumination.
However, a couple of problems crop up. First, the car has a nice flashing rear light that I’d like to keep the functionality of. So, it would probably be easiest to keep that board in there. Second, the interior lights seem to be incandescents as far as I can tell, but don’t most passenger car lighting kits provide DC output? So, what is the board shown in the photos below doing and can I put a passenger car lighting kit in front of it in the circuit? Thank you for your help.
