...selling off his personal vintage collection? I have been getting emails often over the past year showing some one of a kind vintage Flyer and Lionel pieces. If I recall, many of these items are on display around his store. Either its housecleaning for duplicates or lower grade items. But I hope its not trying to clear out to sell the business.

I would think that it maybe trains that he is acquiring from his customers. I have been receiving his emails too, since I purchase most of my trains from him. But I do not live close to him, I live more then a few hundred miles from visiting his store.
But I do live near to M.B. Klien's and I also receive emails from their web site, ModelTrainStuff and they let me know of new arrivals each week. And they are always listing with the new arrivals some trains that were offered years ago. I have some friends who work there and know that these trains come his customers.
If I lived 1/2 hour from Charlie's store, I'd probably be in every week or two to see what's come through the door.
They bring some used trains to the Big "E" train show each year. I've been very happy with what I've purchased from him at the show.
Just good business on their part and great customer service they are famous for.
All of what has been said above....no reason to speculate. I assure you that Charlie Ro. will be around for a LONG time!!

The original poster's first sentence seems to state a fact. All that follows is RUMOR. Harmless fun I guess!
Harmless, except you're talking about a person, and a forum sponsor, kind of behind his back, but out where he could see it if so inclined.
Maybe he's just thinning the herd. Maybe he's got new tastes. Maybe he's cash-strapped and destitute. It really is none of our business and not our place to speculate.

True, but he does have a public presence, making speculation proper.
Speculation is never proper.
It is probably good that I live a long way from Charles' store. I buy enough from him via the web. I would go broke if I lived near the store.

Never been to Charlie Ro's but I have bought most of my trains from him. Prices were always fair and the service has been very good. Last order a week ago arrived in two days. If they have it, you get it fast.
Speculation is never proper.
Speculation may not be proper, but it can be fun. If no one gets hurts where's the harm.
