Quick question - for the new WS lamps they are making & I guess even the buildings, do you have to use their powerpack & light hub to power them ( I' gussing maybe it steps down the voltage) or can you just power it off the transformer ?

There lights a 12 volts DC. I use them with there hubs and a aftermarket 12 volt power supply. I did try one running off pure 12 volts but it was a little brighter then the rest of my lamps. You could use a 270ohm resistor to dim them, but then again I like there light hubs.
would a regular DC power pack work instead of the light hub? But the AC from a transformer isn't a good idea I take it?
For all the WS light posts, wall lights, entry lights, etc, I directly connect them to a 14 VAC bus. A DC bus would work just as well. I then dim with individual resistors to taste. Locate the resistor in one of the leads to the LED. No need for the light hub. BUT be sure to use the included diode and dropping resistor for each bulb. (These are the components in heat shrink tubing just before the linker plug that goes into the light hub.). Cut off the linker plug and connect the wires from the heat shrinked components directly to the bus

Thanks. I am going to give that a try!
