Folks have been asking to move the LUG breakfast to a different time and day.  I looked into this using the White Rose room on Thursday morning around 10:30.  To do this I will need an accurate head count ahead of time.  I am actually thinking about requiring payment in advance as I don't want to get stuck with an inaccurate head count that I am charged for.  If you don't pay to eat you can't come in and participate (their requirement not mine).  The cost would be about 20-30%, including service charge, higher ($14.95) than we currently are charged ($10.50)  I believe unless we go all continental.

So there you go and there you have it.  Personally, I don't eat as I am too busy running the show.  I know some other folks that attend and don't eat.  The advantage is being on the fairgrounds at a later time a day earlier.

So I'll let you guys give your input and we'll decide based upon the input.  In the past approx head counts worked.  This will no longer be the case.

I'm a rookie with this meeting (only been to the one in April so far), but I'd suggest it is fine where it is.

I could see some folks having other "must do" things right at opening bell, but I don't think you should have to initiate lots of extra effort to shift things around.

Also, I'd be concerned that if you leave the Alexander's time slot and try the alternative, there's no guarantee it would be easy to go back in the future if the new venue doesn't work out.  (I could see another meeting getting going and grabbing the slot you currently have a pretty good arrangement with for the LUG breakfast).

I personally have mixed feelings on moving it, I appreciate Alexanders support and like the place but there are some problems with the current location and time. We are pretty much at the limit on space, last meeting I went to was standing room only. Some of the guest speakers are having problems attending due to the time and the need to be at the main York event setting up.

While I think it would be better if we could move it, the White Rose proposal as sent to Marty is not a good one. It seemed more like it was intended to scare us off

I too would prefer to keep it on Friday.  I leave for York on Thursday morning and couldn't make a breakfast that day.

Sounds like the need for a commitment and money collection beforehand makes the White Rose a non-starter.  Besides the additional work you would inevitably get people wanting to join late or someone who would want their money back when they suddenly couldn't make it.

I vote Friday.

Well as much as it would benefit some to move it, I believe we are staying put on Friday morning.  We are making an attempt to re-arrange the room so the presentations are at the opposite end of the room to stay out of Paula's way and avoid the bottle neck near the entrance.

While it is not ideal, the time is early, it does seem what I suspected.  Most people travel in Thursday morning including myself.  It would make for a long day.  The money up front (which is the way I would have had to do it to have an accurate count) and head counting was not what I wanted to do.

Some folks come and just have some coffee while we do our thing.  We didn't have that option at the White Rose.

For those who chimed in, many thanks.  It's a busy week and we fit where we can, when we can, and try to meet everyone's schedule.  Unfortunately we can't please everyone.
