Recently I got a model of the WH/BW gas turbine engine. It is 3-rail, probably scale length and professionally custom built in 1950s Japan. I want to repaint to be prototypical, and to replace the running gears to 2-rail . Does anyone have any idea? Thanks all.

The wheels look 2rail. How about using Atlas o 4 wheeled trucks? The metal frame would have to be custom made. I would consider dual motor set up from the length of the unit - power the second and 4 the pairs of trucks so you can also have a cab interior too.
I agree with the above post. The wheel flanges appear to be 2-rail. You need to check the continuity between the opposite wheels on every axle. I could not see evidence of a center roller or an outside rail shoe in the pictures. Any info on the builder?

That's a great find. I'd do a continuity check on the wheels to see if the axles are insulated (check for wipers). The wheels are definitely old school scale. It might be a simple matter of removing the pickup sliders and moving the hot wire.
Jan: there is a center rail slider pickup visible in the power truck in the 2nd photo.

I've never seen any thing like that. The cab looks a little like an EMD BL2.

Drive unit looks a lot like the old IMP units with the open box full of spur gears. Have you put any power to it just to see how that drive works?

I saw that piece of brass but wasn't sure what if was. Is it mounted on an insulator?
