Too bad it doesn't have an "analog output" jack so you can view real-time DC current on a scope.  Otherwise that's quite a remarkable value. 

From what I can tell the AC92 has a more sensitive AC current range, while the AC91 has a more sensitive DC current range.

Yep, a scope output would be nice, but for most of the audience here, having the clamp-on DC is king of the hill anyway.  We might be able to count on one hand all the 'scope owners, and at least with both hands.   The other specifications were pretty ordinary, but having clamp-on DC is pretty special in this price range.   I've lost count of all the times I would have liked to measure DC current and had to work out a way to break the circuit to do it.

My only complaint is it's a bit "finicky" to initially zero the DC clamp-on for a measurement.  However, once you do that, it's really pretty decent accuracy.

To my knowledge, no one has figured out the zero'ing problem in clamp-on DC current probes.  Both of my multi-MHz high-bandwidth DC current probes for scopes also have this finicky-ness ... and these probes were more than $1000 ... each!

I figured as much Stan.  I know my one clamp-on DC probe for my 'scope is pretty finicky, but it's fairly old, I figured maybe they solved the issue by now.

Thanks John - will order one.  Measurements are close enough and I don't have to tell you the time and aggravation saved by not having to break the circuit and wiring in the meter.  Especially if you are in a tight space or under the table.  Thanks again !   JP

Boy John, you've gone old school with that fluke.  Haven't seen one of those in over twenty years.  Nice find on the meter though.

And it will stay finicky; the device measures the DC magnetic field, of which the earth also has. Note that the coil of a (DC) relay can have an adverse effect on the measurement, don't ask me how I know ...

Nice catch. I use Fluke, AEMC, Amprobe, LEM DC clamp ons at work.

I recently rediscovered this old thread, and while I need another meter like I need another hole in my head, I couldn't resist this. Today the price is reduced to $22.19; such a deal!  Many thanks th GR John for posting this. (FWIW I'm one of those rare train nuts who owns an oscilloscope, and a vintage Fluke meter).

Very nice. I never owned one, but remember them well; they were the workhorse in any well-equipped shop in my working days. I'm still partial to analog test equipment and prefer the sight of a wiggling pointer over the jitter of a digital readout.

I prefer accurate measurements wherever they come from.

I'm with John on digital accuracy but these old analog multi-meters are high on cool factor.

I agree. These must be popular as they are still in production; and made in the USA!

I ran across this little meter, and I was impressed by it's one superpower, measuring DC using a clamp-on.  Although this is available with much more expensive meters, finding this capability in a $36 meter is a different matter!  This is the BSIDEⓇ ACM91 Clamp-On Meter.  There is also a very similar BSIDEⓇ ACM92, not entirely sure what the difference is.

I did a few measurements comparing it with my bench Fluke meter.  The DC clamp-on accuracy was way better than I expected from a meter like this, being able to measure DC current without cutting wires is a big deal, at least for me!

Mine arrived early last week. I'm finding new uses for it almost every day. I especially like the ability to measure low voltage, high current circuits like a model airplane glow plug without any insertion loss. Thank you, John, for posting this.
