3rd Rail is coming out with ALCO FA-1 and FA-2 diesels.  What I would buy is the as delivered Pennsy paint scheme on a FA-1, which 3rd Rail is not making.  They are doing the Pennsy on their FA-2, but the FA-2 has been done by others and is too late for my era.  Anyone else interested in a Pennsy FA-1?  A FA-1/FB-1 set would be great.

Ron's post prompts me to ask how those FA1 and FA2 orders are doing.  There has been a lot of information coming from 3rd Rail on many projects except this one.

I am gathering material to finally scratch build 4 cabooses l have procrastinated on, two different Colorado Midland sidedoors, and two identical FEC sidedoors, as sold to the Great Western, and several other roads .  I have a bashed Great Western 2-8-0, but  no #90, to pull the GW cabeese, and have the GW decals.  I would certainly buy a #90, and a CM 4-6-0 or 2-8-0 as they used for their columbine specials, up Ute Pass, but no hope for either of these last.  I have five CM cars to pull and located decals for two more that may have to also be scratched, an auto car and stock.  #90 seems long overdue, with all the fans that have seen and ridden behind it.

If you gotta have a FA-1 in PRR, why not the Williams offering? Add ERR electronics and do a bit of upgrade work (swinging pilot elimination, etc) and you get what you want with a considerable savings.

Rex, Thanks.  I'll look at the Williams.  I did not think anyone did the shorter FA-1 in 1:48.

I am and I brought this up to Scott Mann's attention when the model was first announced. Unfortunately 3 railers are not buying much of his offerings so the two rail guys are in command and dictate what they are looking in demand. Oh well. Time to spruce up the Williams FA-1.

I did a search for the Williams FA-1 and did not see a Pennsy version.  Also, the B-unit is not powered.  It looks like a well detailed engine so I'll continue researching it.  However, I would still like a 3rd Rail version.

Let's get back to that Santa Fe 5000 Class

A bunch of Santa Fe people tried to get Scott to do a Prairie, or one of the smaller Santa Fe engines. There wasn't enough demand. I can't imagine "Madame Queen" going by without enough demand. Even Gary Shrader would probably pick one up. It would save him from building one. It's a magnificent engine. I could go on, but...1280px-ATSF_5000_Madam_Queen

Santiago-That would be excellent! But here's another one. For years, I've been trying to get Scott to do a 3 or 4 pack of Santa Fe heavyweight coaches. I think it could only be done as a brass offering. Same car with different numbers.santa_fe-style_heavyweight_70_coach_chair_car_932-10351

They were unique. I think Santa Fe fans would jump at the offering.

MADAME QUEEN would mighty fine, Howard!!! Picture her with Norm’s upcoming express autocars on full allied trucks!!

Santiago, I don't disagree, but the Santa Fe cars are sold out. 30 for each run. However, there are a few other road names that are still available.

Marker, the brass heavyweights are an interesting idea. How many cars do you think the market could support? The express cars (mentioned above) are about $311.00 each. I think a good heavyweight might come in at at close to $800 each on the low end. On the positive side, everyone who has a 2900 class, 3700 class and the older 3751 class, could be considered customers.

Anything Santa Fe always makes for good reading.

I don't own any 3rd Rail products, but I really can't wait to do so, as their stuff is very magnificent and not many other models in O scale can compare to 3rd Rail stuff, at least in terms of detail and realism. I definitely have my own wish list of stuff I would love to see them do, even if I can't afford it lol.

Bombardier M7 - The only one we have is the Lionel version, which I like very much, but it was designed as a ready-to-run train set with children in mind. I would lose my mind if somebody made a scale version of these things.

M7 [railcar) - Wikipedia

Budd M1/M2/M3/M4 - As far as I know, nobody made these in O scale at all, and I think that's a shame.

LIRR Budd M3 railcar datasheets and drawings - Transit Modeling ...

Difco dump car - I would like to get a very-realistic model of these. They're really awesome IMO, and I would love to have at least a few of them.

Freight and Passenger Cars - Difco Dump Car

Ok so what is wrong with the MTH operating model?

prrhorseshoecurve - I have no problem with MTH's version. In fact, I plan on getting at least some of their cars. But I believe that if 3rd Rail make some of their own, they will look way better than the MTH versions. Only thing I wonder is if they would be operating cars, but I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't. As much as I like MTH, I know they aren't the best when it comes to being prototypical.

Charlie, I meant the new batch of Protocraft 50’ express and boxcars coming week this year.

The latest brass cars from Scott were Hiawatha super domes and the army hospital cars... they are the best!!!! If someone can make them for around $600 it would be a gift.

My mistake Santiago, I read the word "express autocar" and just assumed it was the 40' version. For those interested, the Protocraft site has the express car (50') on the web site up for order. The Protocraft stuff is just fantastic and a good place for some decals and a few add on parts as well.

I think multiple brass chair cars are out of my price range, Howard, but I could not pass them up if they were offered in plastic.  If you start a thread to see who would commit, I'll put a yes on it.
