Thanks for the compliments on my night shot. It is my first attempt at an O Winston Link type picture. One of my favorite railroad photographers. Still have some work to do..

Here is a still taken from a video I shot. The red Hue is from a traffic light in front of the subjects... Remarkably, there is depth of field. Shot with a GO-Pro Hero 4 cube camera'...

After spending years with Canon SLRs, I would have had to stop breathing while using my tripod to get that kind of depth of field on a long exposure in this kind of light Ted. 😎 These newest photo devices and their manipulation possibilities are unreal .
Nicely done with the light angling in and focusing on different segments of the scene.
The photos I'm seeing on this thread are getting into the realm of fine art. 🎨
Dallas, believe it or not'. no tripod. I hand hold the Go-Pro. and just let it do it's thing. Sometimes I get a perfect shot. When trying for depth of field with this camera, never works. Yet this shot has it... Mystery...
We are getting some really fine scale photography by some very talented modelers and photographers. We need some black & white shots too.

I've take the easy way out lately. I have better luck using my Samsung Galaxy camera (5 years old now) than my 35mm SLR. I'm not a big fan of the latest windows version, but the photo editing software option is great for light effects and can easily convert any picture to B & W. With the simple movement of a bar, you can darken a picture or convert to B & W. I take most of my pics near dusk when there's a small amount of natural light hitting the layout from the basement windows...light up the buildings, hit the shutter, then adjust lighting on the PC afterwards, as needed.
A favorite from the summer "Benz" rally...
Dallas, I can recall seeing that "blue patch with stars" at Polk in '69...some great guys for sure!

I've used the photo editing on my inexpensive Motorola phone with good results .
Yup.......they lived under that Southern Cross..........great song lyrics too.
Nice work Paul'...good looking shots....... Look on your PC in the start menu, for 3D effects'. You simply take a photo and add snow, rain etc.... Here is an example'
That Southern Cross was our guide on direction in the jungle when it was pitch dark'.. Except for the monsoon season. the sky was always bright with stars'.... Enough commentary on this. We don't want to get in trouble'....😏

The snow effect I made for Paul took quite awhile but it was interesting. I Learning alot from this thread.

A CTA "L" crossing the Chicago River late one dark, moonless evening.
Of course its really an MTH Railking Chicago subway set running through an MTH girder bridge.

Paul, the 3 - D effects Paint app looks more tricky that it really is.... If you play with it, you'll get the results you want...
If your camera has a " night shot" setting, most do, give it a try... see what you think... This setting requires less editing.....📸

Adding the snow takes some patience and time Paul but its kind of fun.
I used my phone photo editing : .........1) lightened up your photo first a little. ........ 2) enlarged the image to maximum ...........3) used the pointed and marker ... white... selections .............4 ) using my stylus I scumbled the pointed and marker selections for the laying snow. .................5) I then used the stylus with the white pointed selection to start making random dots ......then with the marker I used the stylus to make slightly hazy areas.
All that made the maximum enlargement pretty much finished.
The same thing can be done on a less than maximum enlargement of the scene using the stylus with the white pointed selection ........this starts a different size ' snowflake ' ( dot ) . You can then go to a lesser enlargement for bigger ' snowflakes ' ( dots ) .
Initially I was going to have just a light snowfall ....but I was having too much of a good time making 'snow ' . 😁
This method doesn't make the snow actually falling like the rain in Ted's video.

The only thing missing was "Jimmy Stewart" in the picture waiting to board the train! I'll check my Sam phone for an app and explore Ted's 3D effects on the PC. What I'd like to do is retake the picture in color with my Santa and helper figure in red, and then convert the pic to B & W leaving Santa and helper red. I have "A" photoshop on my old PC...the program can isolate and save color in a B & W picture.

I was able to see where I could get 3d effects but couldn't find the falling snow effect. 🤔
