For today: "Crew of C&O 0-8-0 and caboose get ready for departure." This is aK line smoking caboose. Luckily when I realized the roof, around the smoke jack, was at the very cusp of beginning to melt, I picked the car off the track and let it cool. Then I switched the smoke off. Whew!! Never switched the smoke on again!
All my K line cabooses with smoke have this same issue with smoke units/melting roof.

I really like your roadside scenery, Ray, in your above photo. The down and dirty look of it makes it seem very real to me.
Here is one of my favorite scenic photos of my layout. The row boats and rowers are much smaller than O Scale but I think it still works because of forced perspective with the boats set back from the viewer:

yes your Eyes are drawn to the boats, water background so it looks very realistic

Patrick same problem like you I caught it in time but not before it melted the roof around the stack
