FOR TODAY:  Yesterday afternoon ... passengers wait on the platform for the N&W J class and its' train to return.  The J got them here on Friday night and now it's time to return home.  These passengers, all tourists, have spent the weekend here in town enjoying the fall scenery, hiking trails, craft ale, good food, and music.  IMG_6441

This morning as the sun began to rise this logging train is on its' way to the mill.  It will pick up loaded cars along the the way.  Just another day on the railroad.  IMG_2791-2

Nice warm tones for that first photo Patrick.  It certainly brings home the feel of autumn.

The upper left hand light backlight source makes the second scene a really special one.

Nice.  😉

Patrick, even without trains in your photos, the story of the folks waiting for the train to get back home is inspiring! With all the fall colors and people waiting at the station is just Outstanding!

I can really relate to the logging train as there were a lot of that around here where I live. Next time I get to town I will take a photo of the one in the middle of town for visitors to see! Now they use some of the old track for tourist rides on seated hand cars. You go out 3 miles and then back 3 miles!

Thank so much Mike g and Dallas for your kind words!  Wow!! 3 miles out on a hand car and back is certainly a great workout!  LOL!

The logging train shot is one I took using natural light.  The back light in the upper left corner,  which you refer to Dallas,  is actually natural light peering in through the east window in my train room.  I love the way the light captures the telephone/graph/electric lines and the train itself.

FOR TODAY:  The fellas over on team track one are gitner done on this overcast and somewhat drizzly morning.  I'm sure when coffee break comes round they will all scurry over to Elsies Diner for some hot coffee!  IMG_3660

Here's a couple of photos of Southern Pacific 9010 Krauss Maffei Locomotive in Niles Canyon, Fremont, CA in 2013. It is not under it's own power, but the Krauss Maffei was controlling SP 5472 SD9 just behind. In the next photo you'll understand why.

Power unit preparing for install. I thought this was a cool photo with the engine dangling in front of the locomotive it belongs too. Last I heard it still was not fully operational, I'm trying find out what's up. May 24, 2021

FOR TODAY:  It's 1955 as  Lionel postwar steam locomotive 2065 takes center stage on track number 2 at Patsburg's Commuter Station.  In tow is a short passenger train ( not shown ).  In my view Postwar Lionel still looks great!!  As I've said before this locomotive was my very first that came with my Lionel set back in 1957. Ha Ha Dallas Joseph. Since I turned 80 I do not have rough days any more......at least that I can remember.

Denny , "  at least that I  can remember " ....... I got it....................they ? say though........worry about the past conjures up depression and worrying about the future brings anxiety . 🤔

No rough days any more at 80 by living in the present has got to be a huge plus. 😉

Maybe the situation between 6944 and 4972 isn't what I think it might be and the guard surely has a better understanding of what is going on that what I do.

hi Quarter Gauger 48, The Krauss Maffei has two Maybach MD870 V16 4 stroke diesel engines designed and manufactured by MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH in Germany. The engines send power through an automatic fluid driven transmission and then through drive shafts to power the  axles on the trucks. A very complex design that was difficult to maintain. In the photos was the rear engine is being installed and is running.
