I have a type 4090 transformer and a 2007 K-line swicther engine with a horn.
When I hit the whistle lever shouldn't the horn activate ?
Or do I need to add a whistle activation button ?
When I hit the lever, the engine just speeds up....

Move the handle only half way. If still no sound, reverse the wires on the lock-on or at the transformer posts. Some K-line engines have a on/off switch for the horn, check for that ,too.
If Chuck's excellent ideas do not work, try adding a Lionel #6-5906 activation button or a similar sound activation circuit. I think there are drawings of one on another forum.

I tried switching the wires, still no horn...
I guess I'll have to get an activation switch, I thought the whistle/horn switch would activate it...
I also checked, there is no on/off switch for the horn...

Are you sure the engine horn ever worked, or that it just does not work with this transformer? Conversly, do other engine horns work with this transformer?

I bought the engine new, but I didn't even realize it had a horn till recently...
Of my three engines, this is the only one with sound...
Is there a way to test the engine horn off the track ?
