Here are a few casual shots to show vendors and activity. Weather was great, halls were packed, many vendors of all scales and many large module layouts. I bought three Lionel sound cars for the club and myself and a Ross turnout for myself..

That Edaville RR 2' gauge steamer was live! Also on the trailer behind the Lionel Booth was Peppersas! The 1st pikes peak loco!

Btw, I spoke to one of the Lionel reps regarding the PS1 sound boxcars to only have the intermittent wheel flange squeals an not so much of freight knocking around. The boys at Lionel are looking into it as they read the forum and get emails about it too!

I went to the Big E yesterday and I was surprised by the Maine 2-foot live steamer running in the parking lot, and the attendance which seems to grow every year. The Big is second to York in my opinion, and as it grows it will eventually overtake York.

Walking through the buildings with a friend, we scored a 1917 vintage 602 Baggage car for $5, 2 brand new Lionel track bumpers for $10, a like new American Flyer crossing signal for $10, 2 Lionel trestles for $5, several pieces of post war Lionel rolling stock @ $5 each, a lot of new in the box discontinued HO stuff and the latest catalogs from MTH, Lionel and American Flyer.

The eye candy was spectacular, the dealers were in a bargaining mood and the people were very friendly. Long live the Big E!

I missed this year's show. Usually there is a decent amount of prewar and postwar Lionel and AF trains. Some of at bargain prices! I've been very happy with what I've purchased there. And there is at least one thread showing the postwar goods the poster purchased.

Were there any Lionel parts dealers there?
George Tebolt gave up the show a number of years ago, and the Little Depot sold most of his parts as a lot.

Had I made the show, if nothing else, I would have purchased some hardware from Micro Fastners and some tools from the vendor with a fairly large display.

Great photos Don. This show was always a good one. Now at my age it's almost a 2 day affair to see everything.  Found a few items I hadn't seen before. So many cottage industries out there offering great products.

GARRETT76,   If you are looking for an O Scale auto loader. Forum member Stu Gralnik showed one a while back. Scratchbuilt. You should be able to find it on his site.  modelbuilding services.com    He's a Forum sponser.

Had a great dat at the Amherst show yesterday. Good attendance for both spectators and vendors.  Saw a lot of people buying. I got a chance to talk to some of the forum sponsors and thanked them for their posting on the forum.

I think Eddie G was the only train guy in the north east that didn't attend!

Don, thanks for the photos! There is a lot of ground to cover, and I missed a few things in the 5 hours I was there.

Seems Lionel missed the boat on these sound cars.  I returned the one I bought based on the reviews and videos her pe on the forum.  They had a formula that worked great with the Vision Line tankers... not sure why they messed with it.

Looks like a great show... thanks for sharing the photos.  Will need to get there once.  Appears to be an Allentown ATMA show on steroids, yet not quite the size of York.

BTW, what did Grzyboski want for that VisionLine GE EVO?  I'm guessing $1700-$1800?

David

Went with my wife to the Amherst show yesterday and we had a great day. Bought some things we set out to buy, but more than that, the show is just a fun place to enjoy trains. There are lots of layouts representing every gauge and a phenomenal Lego layout. Lots of families with kids having fun and mesmerized by the trains going round the tracks. Really encouraging to see so many young people at the show.

I love York for the buying experience (and Strasburg), but for a day of fun, can't beat Amherst.
