Trying to remove an Atlas GP9 motor. Have looked at the Atlas parts diagrams for frame and truck and still no luck. Have removed the single screw from the bottom (about #4 x 3/4) motor mount seems movable but in no way free to remove. What am I missing? I cannot find any other screws to remove, but obviously there must be.

I'm not familiar with these but do you have any photos? I'll take a look at the diagram and see if I can make a guess.
EDIT: After looking at the diagram, is the worm gear just locked into the truck? I can't tell if there's room to shimmy the worm gear away from the other gear or if it's pushed up against there.

Some of the Atlas stuff uses Lionel style TMCC trucks that have multiple screws to remove. One thing is you probably have to remove the pickups to split the truck and get to the motor mount screws.
Pickup screw removal did the job. GP7/9 are hard to work on. Don't even want to think about an SW9.
