Walt,
It looks good. I have it running between the tender and the baggage car.
I think that the real Blue Comet sometimes ran boxcars to generate more revenue. I'm sure that some of the experts can comment.
I also have quite a few 2800 freight cars and a B&O starter set steamer that I can run it with. Doesn't matter to me if it is prototypical because as we all know, they are are all toys.

Thanks Doc.

Actually I don't care at all if it was 'prototypical'.  I was/am more interested in whether it looked dumb or not mixing it with a passenger train.

When I still owned all of my 'O' non-tinplate stuff, I had 2 passenger trains and I think anything other than a passenger car would have looked badly out of place.  But one was the Aerotrain and it was a unique all passenger train and no cars matched to the passenger cars.

David,

I'm also looking for a 500 Series Standard Gauge Boxcar to run with my little 384 and 300 series passenger cars. MTH made one in 2006 (10-2173).

I found one from a forum member but he wanted to sell it with the starter set and I couldn't justify buying a set that I already had, just to get one car.

Hopefully LCT will re-release the boxcar to go with the starter set which was also recently re-released.
