Hello guys and gals.......
I have a Sunset 3rd Santa Fe class 5011 Texan and the rear back up light of the tender lens is clear but I painted the lens using the transparent red paint. I got poor results and had to use the fine sewing needle to remove the paint but now the clear lens is all scratched up. I wondered if someone forum members would know where I can get replacement transparent RED plastic or glass lens ? I think the size is 5 MM.

This may be a really dumb suggestion but, have you contacted Sunset/3rd Rail yet? Obviously they are the only folks that will have the correct lens you need.

Yes ,I have thought of that but didn't think they would have a red one. I had 3 PFM versions of the 5011 in H.O. brass and I purchase some MV lens and they came with a red one for the tender so I thought it was suppose to be red. I was trying to add some color to my rather dull passenger train lol.

I'm fairly certain that the rear light on the tender should have a clear lens. A color lens would cast a tint on everything and interfere with visibility.
Red light(s) to mark the rear of a train (when a locomotive is pushing) is/are hung on a tender when necessary.
Please be aware that, on a steam locomotive, the "rear back-up light" is actually a "head light" for making reverse moves. Thus, if it was "red", how could the Engineer & Fireman see where they were going, while backing up in the dark?
