Thank you for sharing your artwork for the corrected Zephyr Gothic Pullman sign for the CB&Q Slumbercoaches.

What are your “other minor corrections for this car” ?

Are these other minor corrections for the CB&Q cars or for other road names ?

Thanks in advance !!!

CB&Q Bill

Hi Bill,

The other correction was to add additional road names to get to all four CBQ car names as follows:

  • Silver Siesta
  • Silver Slumber
  • Silver Rest
  • Silver Repose

There were some other minor corrections to other road names, but overall this run is in great shape!

I think I recall reading somewhere and/or at some time that the Silver Meteor in the 80's pulled 1 or 2  Budd Slumber Coach's in it's consist.  If you could enlighten me a little on this history query I would appreciate it very much. I'm very fond of riding the old SM and the newer Amtrak versions. Only trying to get some mental history. Thanks   Tommy

The Silver Meteor did get a Slumbercoach under Amtrak, but typically only a single Slumbercoach was assigned to a train.  When I was riding the Broadway Limited regularly in the late 80's the consist was typically three Materials Handling Cars, a baggage car, a baggage / dorm, 4 coaches with Amfleet IIs in lieu of Heritage coaches often, either an Amfleet or Heritage lounge, a Heritage diner, the Slumbercoach, then another two sleepers.  Often 10-6s.

So I found a photo of an HO MoPac slumbercoach with blue letter boards & white lettering. The GGD model is silver letterboards & black lettering. Which is correct? I can’t find any color pics of the real MoPac car

The GGD model is correct.
I don’t have any color pix but it’s a silver car with black letters in the B&W photos I have. There are no white on dark lettering in pix to which I have access. This can be seen in “Pullmans to St. Louis” on pages 48, 53, and 103.FD6CC395-37B1-41F0-AA0E-D27CDC86C4C7
And FYI - page 52 discusses the MP Slumber Coach “Southland” arriving in St Louis with MP 14-4 Eagle Hill on the B&O National Limited - heading to Texas. 😜
