Buy anything cool lately?

Yep - over the past few months I have been selling of some Lionel and MTH P1 stuff that Ididn't run and used the funds to add to my Lionmaster roster. I now have the UP SD90, and one each of all the steam engines including the legacy whistle version of the Big boy and 2 legacy versions of the challenger - UP and Rio Grande.

Over her in the UK large curves are not so easy in our small houses with no basements so I am well pleased. This was all done with the help of some forumites and you know where online.

I wish there was a Lionmaster Allegheny to buy or a Q2 as mentioned on another post!!

Picked one 51 piece lot of  O and O-27 freight cars at the Springfield show for $100.00!!!!  Having a ball fixing/cleaning them up. Will be able to salvage 48 of them. Also got a 2243 Santa Fe A-B-A powered/dummy/powered set in Springfield, for cash and trade.

Hadn't seen this thread in awhile and yes, these are pretty cool. I was able to obtain the beautiful MTH PS 3.0 Premiere Texas Special F3 set painted in the un-prototypical scheme of the postwar Lionel 2245's. Somehow, I much prefer the red and white to the correct scheme...

Just bought this K-Line scale B unit with smoke. You don't often find smoking B units. I'll either repaint this to go with our GM&O F3s or eventually pick up some matching PRR F units.

I went digital this week.  I got my MTH DCS, 50-1001, system on Wednesday.

I finally got a Lionel 264 forklift platform!  Got a good deal on an original in good working order, just need to pick up a car to go with it.  I'm not picky so i might pick up a repro.  I've wanted one of these since the first time i saw one in action.  It's such a cool little accessory, and it always seems to work cleanly (as opposed to any coal based accessory).  eagerly waiting for it to be delivered!

Now this is cool!

Going to have to add one of these to my list of I Wants One.

We just picked up this nice (cool) K-Line PRR F7 B unit with smoke. It has great detail including two sets of air hoses at each end, an extra pair of short-shank couplers and some of the nicest diaphragms I've seen..

I might repaint it to run with these Atlas F3's sometime down the line!

Picked up a pair of Atlas Trainman CNJ/NJDOT coaches from the Model Railroad Shop in Piscataway.  Then deciding not to drive to Allentown scored an Atlas CNJ RSD4/5 from the for sale forum.  And I was going to stop buying stuff.  Oh well, the CNJ is alive and well in my basement.

I nabbed this 2-truck Legacy Shay off eBay for $380, runs and looks great.  It's a smokin' fool, I was surprised how much smoke this sucker produces.  The slow speed is great, have to look twice to see if it's moving.  I think this has beat the Genset as my slow speed champ!

This will look great with a string of my IDR log cars behind it.

That is a super looking Shay, John!  I guess we will have to rewrite the legend of Paul Bunyon.  He started using the iron horse instead of the blue ox!

Guess I need to make an entry here as well.  Last Saturday I picked up a new LC+ Pennsy Mike at the great price of $309 at my local hardware store/hobby shop.  I haven't had the chance to run it a lot, but so far I am very pleased with it.

Mark, the blue ox didn't have the pulling capability.

John, I can understand that!  In fact, I have wondered why the ox was blue.  I finally decided it was because of the cold Northern winters.

Got this 1932 Flyer outfit last week. Unusual type XV, model 35 Flyer Clockwork. Type XV are not real common, but this model with the elongated rear deck for the bell is a toughie.

I recently snagged a Lionel #30 water in excellent condition for an amazing price. Just the latest in the quest for acquiring postwar accessories.

I got a couple amazing cars from my uncle!!! No pictures yet... I'll post some tomorrow.

One was a 2009 LRRC flatcar with pipes, and a really nice post-war 6520 searchlight car with the maroon generator. I love them!!!

Always on the lookout for a deal with free shipping, I ordered this Williams Christmas Special train set from Amazon.com, used like new - $107.04 shipped.  From their Warehouse returns store, there were 3 left.  Down to 1...

our 11 year old 217,000 mile csr died yesterday. Signed on the dotted line for a new one, there goes the train budget for the next 60 months.

BigBoy4014, congrats on your latest purchase.  I've bought some items (trains, Harley stuff, etc.) and made, face-to-face, with the seller, low ball offers and said, to the seller, I hoped they would decline the offer because I didn't need the item, it was purely an impulse offer, and, the seller would, more often than not, accept the offer.  Believe me, this was no ploy on my part; but that's how I accumulated a lot of stuff I'm now planning to sell--not all of it, but most of it.

I just made an offer on a Lionel Circus Special on ebay yesterday, for 1/3 less than than asking price, the offer was accepted! I have been drawn to the general style engines for some reason as of late don't ask me why..... but I think I am up to 10/11!

Attended a show in Cheshire, CT yesterday (thanks DMASSO for the info).  When I heard "train show at a high school" I assumed it would be a couple of guys with layouts; didn't expect it would be a big show complete with dealers.  Wish I had brought more cash, but I guess that kept me from over spending   Lots of S scale and smaller, but some good o-gauge stuff.  saw some very nice layouts as well. 

Anyway, picked up a postwar banjo signal in the original box from a kind older gentleman.  I had been looking for a reasonably priced one for a while.  When I got it home I tested it and it wouldn't move, so after finding the parts diagram, I saw it was missing the rubber gasket that sits between the motor and the cap which I should have remembered from a similar experience with my searchlight car.  Anyway, should be a simple part order and the guy who sold it to me did throw in 2 switch lanterns I needed, so I wasn't upset about it.  Spent the afternoon cleaning up and testing some 022 switches and UCS track I got in a lot off ebay.  Still buying for that non existant layout!

This brand new design still has few bugs but I'm working through them.

And No, My only association with Solidoodle is as a consumer.

I have made a pair of Pallets and a Picnic table in O scale.

Several other things will follow.

I have models of several people, some will be resized to match up, some won't.

Two weeks ago, I purchased an Ameritowne 823 Pat and Jean's Jewelry kit.  The kit went together great.  No issues.  Today, I bought two more Ameritowne kits--the 442 Acme Machine Co. and Homestead Furniture kits from my LHS.  I'm looking forward to building these and putting them on my small rural themed layout, which I haven't started yet.

    In the past, I've purchased other Ameritowne kits in the 300 series-the City Hall and Real Estate office.  I have also built at least one each of the 500 series kits.  All have gone together very well.

Got this American Flyer Loco & tender yesterday at the SW meet. This 3322 loco, 3301 tender combo was uncatalogued around 1934. Needs a bit of TLC and a headlight bezel, but still pretty nice as it sits.

Not model related, but the model train show in Monroe, WA over last weekend was well worth the trip. I found a 1944-dated D&H lantern that was in incredible shape, where someone had punched a hole in the bottom for an electric light. I wanted to do that with a lantern but wouldn’t drill a hole myself, so I got this one really cheap (just over $40 for the lantern and a red globe from another vendor who had mostly lantern stuff). I only need to find a flame-shaped bulb either as battery powered or wired. Heck, I could easily get a burner and use it normally if I wanted to.

I also found a neat EMD unit truck plate set for next to nothing, some good books (including a WW2 Jeep book for $15 that normally retails for about 50 when you can find it), a book on railfanning Stevens and Stampeded Passes (ironic as the Stevens pass line was right across the highway from the venue) DVDs (one vendor had them for $2 each) and some detail items. I haven’t seen that much good stuff at a show in years, it was a good run. Could have bought a lot more stuff if I didn't fear the wrath of my wife!  For example, a guy had what was a pretty decent price on a complete GN semaphore blade, but it was too much for my wallet and I have no room to hang it anyway.

I also hit all the major hobby shops in Seattle on the way home and found some magazines and random items.
