Kids and grand kids were here for 4 days but I had some nice little things come in the mail. Got my tickets from Menard's for the train show they co-sponsor in Eau Claire Wi. Then my set of Weaver trucks came. Today I went to the Medina Ohio show and pick up a few vehicles then on the way home I swung by Menard's and pick up my Morton Salt trucks and the freebie trucks. Now with the house quiet I can go back to working on the layout. Pics.....Paul

Yep, complete prewar set 859B at the Lincoln Square Mall show in Urbana IL yesterday.  227 semi scale PRR B6 set with bell ringing tender, gondola, double door PRR auto box car and PRR tinplate caboose.  Just needs a few cosmetic parts replaced.  Runs beautiful once I serviced and replaced some wiring that was rubbish in the tender.  Only the bulb in the caboose was burnt out.

As the family was in Hamburg, PA for a pony club event we had time to stop at the Reading Railroad Heritage Museum.  It was nice, not overly huge inside but 30 or more cars outside, some in great shape.

So picked up a few souvenirs (PRR mouse pad, Reading T1 coffee cup as I have the scale version and about 10 train magazines that the guys at the shop gave the kids for free).  The Trains Magazine from 1955 has some interesting articles I'll have to read.

So on the mouse pad I see a T1 and a GG1.  What are the rest?

Good evening, yesterday I picked up a new MTH Imperial Pennsy K4s. Had the hobby shop put the engine on their shop layout to make sure everything worked before I took the engine home.Removed the engine from the shipping box, added a few drops of oil on the moving items.

Put the engine on the layout, entered it into the DCS remote hit the start up button and the engine performed like a champ.

What a smoker compared to my other PS3 engines.

Here is the K4 passing a freight on a passing siding.

I had a sales table at a model railroad show all this weekend. I sold a bunch of excess stuff and wound up with a few hundred bucks.

This is all I bought at the show, a bunch of books, and an original Pullman blanket (though not in great shape).

Yeah, they're Brit model magazines, but there's always something to learn, regardless what country in which it was printed.

Does anyone have a clue what year the blanket was made? I know the number codes means a year but I couldn't find anything online.

I just got this NY Yankee Jersey Boxcar to add to my NY Yankee Train. I liked this train when it came out in the Lionel catalog but at $85 MSRP, there was no way I was going to spend that much on a boxcar. National Railroad Worx had a 3 day sale on MLB cars. For $39 plus $11 shipping, I paid what, to me, the car is worth.

I picked up that same car at the Amherst Railway show this year from Grzyboski's.  $42.  Cool car, but I'm ready to pack it away the way they're playing!!!  😣

Looks like a S2 Turbine in the lower right corner, a K4 Pacific on the upper left, Baldwin Sharknose on the center right and probably an E8 on the lower left (Pennsy didn't have any tuscan F units).

Train Nut, Yea it was a frustrating weekend but be patient. It's early yet.

Hi Pat,  definitely an E8.  But do not forget  the two sets of ABA FP7's  that were equipped with steam generators and paint Tuscan red with five-stripes.

When I posted a week or so ago about my Atlas Trainman 60' NYC Observation car, I promised photos as soon as it arrived at my door.  Well, here they are:

OBS_CAR-2

As you can see, the paint is nicely done.  And although I don't have a scale to weigh it, it's a reasonably heavy car, and has no trouble staying on the track or running through switches.  It's LED-illuminated, like the rest of the 60' series that I already own.

Somewhat to my surprise, it also has an illuminated NYC drumhead on the rear railing:

Although it's a nice touch, I find it rather too bright to be realistic, and I'll probably have to add a resistor to dim it down a bit.

Unfortunately, the car does not also come with marker lights, so it looks like that'll be a summer project for me.  I know about the Tomar LED marker lights, but can anyone recommend others, just for comparison?

Note about Tomar:

We would like to say "Thanks" for your patronage of over 36 years. Tomar Industries and Utah Pacific have been sold to P.F.& S.Railway Supply, Inc. LeRoy, Sharon, Joel & Teresa Prantle are excited to make all the products we have supplied in the same quality we have all these years. You, our customers, have been important to us and we have made every effort to make products that you would be proud to put on your layout.

Don't forget we still have Alexander Scale Models and Stewart Products and can now spend time producing products that have been off the market and on the back burner plus the ones that exist in the line.
