Needed something to help pull my Disney Hi-cube box cars so picked these up.  U 36B and N5c caboose.

Also found a Greyhound scale 1948 bus that helps build the vehicle side of the layout.

At the York Show last week I purchased the MTH York Club Cars ans I picked up the MTH Rail King Erie Lackawana and Richmond and Fredericksburg 4Bay Cylindricle Hopper Cars from Just Trains which I had preordered awhile back. Very sharp cars.

I ordered a Thomas, West Virginia station kit from Carolina Craftsman Kits at an introductory discount.  Here it is sitting about where the station will go on my Blackwater Canyon Line layout.  Unfortunately I won't get a chance to build it until next winter.

Too many things to do not related to model trains.  I know; it is quite unacceptable for sure!!

Mark, just take your time and do it when you want! Its your layout and its your building! You have skills though, I would have started on it already and it might still take me till next winter! LOL

Mike, Well I butchered my first laser cut kit by putting paint on too thick and lost a lot of the fine brick detail.  Fortunately it was a small kit and can go in the back of the layout.  I did a better job painting clapboard laser cut kit, but it still sits in pieces after I started the layout build in the larger room.  We both need to retire and spend more time on out layouts!  

That's ok Mark, I am sure we all have blew some money out the window butchering kits when we first got them! It's just part of the hobby and learning curve!

Here it is, my first Lionel Legacy steam engine. And most likely the only one. I got this for a great deal from Mario's Trains during his York sale. So far I'm loving it and it's running great. I was surprised just from how well the engine was packed in the box, it barely moves when it's in the box. Hopefully it doesn't have any problems during my ownership, thankfully it has a warranty.

In the future I plan on buying Reading 70' Madison passenger cars from MTH, so I can make a pretty accurate recreation of the excursion train that the T1s pulled from 1959 - 1964. But of course, that will come at a later date.

Picked up a pair of Rio Grande 65’ mill gons and a NYC covered hopper for a total of around $35. The gons were lightly used, but they are still like new. Also picked up an Athearn BlueBox SD45 as a project. The shell was painted, crudely, by its previous owner and will need stripping. It will probably end up in Conrail or Erie Lackawanna. The chassis itself was very well maintained, however. It is currently in the process of being converted to DCC. It will eventually get ESU Loksound or TCS WOW sound, but for now a Digitrax DH126 will do. 

I'm happy for you, Michael B. I hope the engine gives you nothing but satisfaction and joy, always being dependable, sturdy, and strong.

Oh, Brian!!!  I finally bought an MTH BL2 in the Rock Island black and red livery with silver painted trucks.   I just paid for it on the bay a few minutes ago.  I have always liked the looks of the BL2 and happy to finally get one.    Only other engine I would really like to have is an MTH BNSF Genset, but I wouldn’t mind having an MTH BN GP38-2 1990 BN Safe and an MTH NP GP9.  So I guess I am down to 3 engines on the “Have To Have” list.

$99 for an MTH early Premier K4s 20-3018-1..  Maybe crazy but I can't resist K-4's!

He says it dings and then turns off.  Probably needs a battery if I had to guess.  It is a bit dusty an such...

Dennis, in 1987 that magnificent K-4 Pacific was  declared the official steam locomotive of the State of Pennsylvania. From 1914 to 1957, it was the PRR's premier passenger-hauling loco, finally being replaced by diesels.

Close up: Henning's had a deal on diecast figures in their display case. Picked up these 3 items. One is obviously a station figure, the other seems to be a young boy with a camera, and the sign behind it just seemed cool.

Prewar Flyer 1123 Passenger Car- very versatile, goes great with my current prewar consist of Ives, Flyer, and Bing. Also fits in well with Marx and prewar Lionel with the Latch/tab & slot couplers

My first 2 rail, 3/16th scale American Flyer set from Henning's.. In original box with original boxes. The transformer,directions, Atlantic 303 Loco, Reading Lines American Flyer Lines tender, Illinois Central Reefer, Gulf 925 and correct caboose are all there. Missing the Texas and Pacific Gondola but the box is there- hoping to get that this weekend

Just set it up as a carpet layout for now. What the future holds for this set- I do not know. But I must say I like the s-scale. Picked up theswitch at a local antique mall

This isn't actually my first engine, this is my 4th command engine in my collection and my 2nd Legacy engine. This for sure won't be the last model I will ever own, but it might be the only steam engine I will ever own. Simply because it's the only engine that is great looking and not super popular. Everything else I can live with out, even the articulated steam engines. Since on O-72 curves they mostly look really ugly and that would bother me any time I would run an engine like that.

...a new tender body for my E-6 #6-28005. Got it through eBay from an outfit in North Lima, Ohio.

The body on top is the original: part#6SP8005T07. Below is the new one, part #6928704T07. As I hope you can see, the details are a little finer and the coal load is much improved. Both are marked "Korea" inside.

It is a drop in replacement; all the mounting screws line up perfectly. The only "issue" is this newer version does not have the clear light bar for the marker lamps, nor does it appear to be set up to accept one. Not a big deal. A nice upgrade (I think) and free shipping too!

Since I gutted the consolidation and am running it on straight DC, and therefore am not using all the "bells and whistles" buried in the tender, that tether is not needed, and is tucked up inside the tender.

So yes, it now resides behind the 2-8-0...thanks for asking.

Picked up a reasonably-priced K-LINE 18" Golden State diner with an eye toward turning it into #1869 from the 1969 Union Pacific Golden Spike Centennial Expo Train. Came out OK.

Yeah, I thought about it for a few minutes once I found it and then just said, heck with it, I'll give it a shot.... Now up to 4 Williams K4s', a couple of MTH, a half dozen Lionel including the old ones and the Scalecraft from the 1930's.... Some of em even work! lol  I also have a gutted Lionel H10 consolidation.  I either need to try an ERR board or do like you did and just straight DC it.

Just received from Mr. Muffin.  This is the only car I am interested out the 5-car set (20-40039) heavyweight UP passenger cars.  This car finish (end) a project.  Will soon post the others for sale.

For what it's worth...

The Consol runs great on straight DC: no complaints, although sometimes I wish I had been able to keep it an AC engine, just so I don't have to switch power sources every time I change from it to a "pure" Lionel locomotive. In any case, it's all good.

If you ever feel like one of your (many) K4s needs a home on the Oregon Coast, please keep me in mind...

Just picked up an MTH premier PRR Alco PA ABBA (A units #5753 [lead] and #5756; B units #5752 and #57550 [add on]) set that looks great except for the roof antenna needs work.  Came without boxes so that would explain that.  

One of the B (#5750) units I believe is MTH 20-2477-3 (2006).  As for the ABA unit I'm struggling somewhat on how to ID it.  Hopefully someone can provide some insight.  On the bottom is a sticker that says PS2 passenger, smoke pot, volume pot and a white rectangular battery charging port.  The coloring is green so I'm thinking it is the 20-2477-1 set from 2004 but the A unit road numbers, #5753 and #5756, don't match the MTH description (should be #5754 and #5755).  The numbers on my A units are for a Tuscan colored PS3 set from 2013.  Could they really have different numbers?

Also, I don't see a program switch anywhere.  Is there not one for PS2?  I have only run conventionally until I get my layout (first layout for newbie) up and running so haven't added my TIU as yet.  Before I even put it on my conventional track to see if they light up I do want to change out the batteries (2.4V I believe).  Will have to look under the hood later to see what's there as well.

About 8 years ago I bought an ABA set of Williams Santa Fe Alco PAs. They were meant to be a sub in for the set of PAs I wanted as a kid in the late 90's: the Lionel PA, PB set from 97-98. I even upgraded the Williams units with ERR Cruise Commander and Railsounds Commander but they still weren't what I really wanted. I just recently sold the Williams units to acquire a MIB PA, PB set I originally wanted. So now I've got the last of the childhood locomotives I wanted. They run great and sound great as well. The horn is probably one of the best sounding horns Lionel has put into a diesel. Eventually I'll pick up another PA to make an ABA set.

My 1995 MTH 20-3018 K4s showed up. The seller stated that it did not run. But it seems to run fine. This is the second early MTH loco I bought where seller said no workie but it workie. 👍👍👍smoke works too , it got softened up after this video.
