Buy anything cool lately?

FINALLY!  Finally my steel company yard goat arrived which MTH released in mid-June.  

As much as possible I support the local toy train shop!  When this was cataloged in the 2019 V1 when to Local toy train shop to order.  In front of me they called MTH to order.  But was told the MTH's ( Mike Wolf's) policy was only case load quantities.  Which in this would have been two engines.  Now I bet no one within 100-miles knows of this company or anyone within 200-miles (like myself) has actually been inside a full fledge steel mill.  So they would have been stuck with the second engine.  they shop ordered it from one of MTH's largest distributors which is another story in itself.

I was born, raised and matured in the second largest producer of steel in the country.  The Youngstown Steel and Tube was founded there in 1900.  Also the Republic Steel company was founded there a year or two earlier.

Anyway my home town steel company yard goat.

Oh it runs super-smooth at 2 SMPH!

Another Carolina Craftsman Kit floated in.  This of the "Frog Pond" store.  This is similar to a couple of other store and feed mill kits out there.  Because of this structure's shape, l am considering bashing into a water mill with store,  and attached grain elevator.  I do like these kits, and country stores, mills, elevators, stamp mills, and "different" RR stations.

The kit floated in on the Frog Pond!!  Have fun building it Colorado Hirailer!!

Two newest Lionel orders, the #16132 Deep Rock Three-Dome Tank Car and the MPC-era #2115 Dwarf Signal. Gonna need some help on the signal installation, im not sure if I have the right accessories to make it work properly (No Tubular Track, one #12029 Accessory Track Pack, one confused model railroader).

Got a New York Central GP9, a B&LE gondola, DM&IR tank car and more track the other day. 

I missed this reefer when Atlas"O" released it in their Masterline reefer series years ago, so I decided the next best thing was the same reefer that S-Helper Service issued in their "S" gauge line a few years prior to them retiring and going out of business. Too bad MTH hasn't done their best to keep these wonderful models alive.....

The only change from "stock' is a set of Kadee couplers (#802).

Great detail and a beautiful addition, BUT the real kicker is the fact that it was sent through the mail and arrived in perfect condition

This came in a couple weeks ago.  Have about 10 hours in putting it together.  Is a little fiddly, but finally got it together.  Will run on rubber bands for a few feet.

Ted, The UGears model looks great set against your layout as a backdrop.  I just watched a couple of their videos on YouTube.  Very nice!  Congrats on completing the assembly.

Badly-worded statement, Folks.  I will use the entire 8.8 cubic foot elevated switchyard on my lay-out. The other half consists of tracks, various bridge structures, and a few toy railcars, none of which I  want. I spent some time with a tape measure this afternoon and have already disassembled one structure to make room. 

The first of many "crew" members I will have riding on the platforms of my cabooses (or cabeese?) or will eventually stick inside my passenger cars W/ interiors.

It's a challenge sometimes to find a bare flat car. All the manufacturers sell them with some kind of load. I already have more loads than freight cars so when this NOS Conrail flatcar popped up for $20 on eBay I was all over it. 

Now to decide - Container (COFC) or Trailer (TOFC) ?

It's why I like flat cars and gondolas. They give us the opportunity to improve them the way we want.

The items I ordered from Nicholas Smith Trains during their "Tent Blowout Sale" have finally arrived. I mainly got the Lionel SD60E so I have something to operate with my Lionel Southern ES44AC. The Lionel Trackmobile I purchased because I have always wanted one since they are so small but rather mighty. So far I'm loving both engines, but I like the Trackmobile a lot more because of how unique it is. I can't wait to try both of these out at the San Diego 3-Railers in a few weeks. It will be interesting seeing visitors reactions to my Trackmobile pulling a few freight cars.

Both models are running perfectly by the way! The SD60E has a rather noisy smoke fan motor, but I will fix that later.

I've been putting together a collection of pw 2000 series steam engines. Last week I was surfing the bay for pw 2026 w/tenders. Found a seller selling separately two 2026 (one of each variations) and had two more separate auctions selling a tender for each engine. I found another seller selling a 2026 w/two matching tenders in one auction. Crunched numbers and realized buying the 2026 w/two tenders and one 2026 engine from the other auction would be cheaper. Then decided to buy a 2020 turbine w/tender and also found a 671 w/tender and w/ three freight cars and caboose at a good price.

All four engine runs great, two tenders works great, the other two tenders after rewiring works great.

MTH new / old stock tinplate that I picked up at the local hobby shop. I will be stopping by there more frequently.
