@Scrambler81- OK the Hobby Shop logo is a good memory, but you missed the most beautiful thing on the car.  USS New Jersey, BB-62 an Iowa Class Battleship.  At 887 ft long and 45,000 tons she would outweigh most locomotives for sure.  She earned more combat battle stars for combat actions than the other three completed Iowa class ships.  She also provided gunfire support for action in Vietnam. She certainly makes me proud of my home state.  Go Navy Beat Army!!

Purchased another Lionel 15" aluminum UP offset dome car, 6-19121, from Trainz' website which was described as "like new." Close inspection showed spider web-like cracks throughout the yellow paint:

Paint Cracks 1

This paint defect is common for this particular car.

A brief exchange of emails with Trainz customer care (which must have shift work since they sent me an email at 1:07AM!) resulted in the refund of a portion of the purchase price. So all is good.

Also, Lionel's parts sale turned $800 into $400; THANK YOU, LIONEL!

@pennsyfan- Great Jet Powered RDC.  Its hard to believe that NYC actually built and tested a car like this.  Given the poor experience in the steam fleet with steam turbines, I don't know what they expected but I can almost guarantee they didn't get it.  Those turbojets would have been voracious on fuel at anything but near full power.  In addition they needed the speed of flight compressing the atmosphere to even get that good.  Mounted on a 50-60 mph railcar would not have been ideal at all.

But its a cool model and a neat addition to the toy train world.

I got this.   Slowly building a PRSL set. IMG_5331

Now, I want to make it very clear up front, I am NOT trying to be one of those pesky bad influences you meet here abouts but… Forum sponsor Berwyn’s Trains (who did your car) also did another run of PRSL boxcars which came out earlier this year (though I believe they were Premier).

@Apples55 - Okay; another Berwyn's special order? Do you have the SKU? I found it on their website, but it's out of stock. Maybe I can get luck and find it online somewhere.
