These aren't ex-US GE's.  These are C36-7's that were built brand new for the Chinese railroads.  The first group had short hoods like US design, the second group had those much lower noses.  Also, the cab doors are on the opposite sides from US practice.  And the radiator "wings" are curved down for tighter clearances.

No.ND5 is a class of roadswitcher diesel-electric locomotives employed by China Railway. It is a standard General Electric C36-7.Its still a ge locomotive an older model at that built in 1978–85.China has been getting new ge locomotives since 2005 not sure where they are built.
