My TIU blinks twice after unpowering then powering up again. From Barry's book this means my TIU should be TIU 2.

My problem is the DCS remote will only recognize TIU 4 despite numerous attempts to change to TIU 2. Used the READ button to verify this. Despite the DCS remote programmed for TIU 4 and the TIU blinking twice, I can still find and run an engine but the communication is sketchy. Eventually I get the dreaded "Remote Out Of RF Range" error message.

Any suggestions?

Thank you..

MENU, SYSTEM, TIU SETUP AND EDIT TIU ADDRESS ?

Unfortunately, "EDIT TIU ADDRESS" won't work in this case.  The remote would be trying to change the address of a TIU (TIU 4) that isn't there.

John's on the right track.  From Gerry's description, I suspect his TIU 4 in the remote is set to super mode.  Otherwise, it wouldn't work at all.  The best way to get things straightened out is to first add a TIU 2.

MENU / SYSTEM / TIU SETUP / ADD TIU

Once TIU 2 is in the remote, power up the the track with the engine(s), and press the read button.  This will associate any powered engine with TIU 2.  Once this is accomplished, you can safely delete TIU 4.

MENU / SYSTEM / TIU SETUP / DELETE TIU

Assuming TIU 4 is in super mode, any engines not on the track when the read button is pressed should move down to the inactive engine roster.  When putting such an engine on the track controlled by TIU 2, simply press the read button again and it will re-associate with TIU 2.
