Does your PS-3 have a moving bell at all? Just curious, as I don't deal in newer tinplate very often.

My original President has a linkage that runs from the bell ringer to the bell, and as the loco runs, the bell ringer mechanism has a cam or eccentric that operates the bell clapper, and the linkage is attached to that. It's kind of remarkable in that the bell actually reaches it's full position as the bell ringer rings. It can also be disengaged by moving a lever.

I'd be interested in hearing if conventional versions work the same.

No. My PS-3 version only has the bell on the roof next to the slot where the linkage would be. Not a deal breaker for me but a little disappointing. The only bell is the one that comes from the sound file. One of things I liked about American Flyer wide gauge was the ringing bell in time with the swinging one on the roof. I"m working on restoring a conventional "Shasta" electric that has the swinging bell.
