The K-Line engine is great!  I recall seeing lots of Chessie trains in much younger days!

Mark, I never spent more than a few hundred dollars for a new engine. K Line made fine products in its final years that were relatively economic. My recollection is that I bought this K Line Chessie system diesel in the late 1990s for $300 to $400. It's an excellent runner and puller with excellent detail for the price. It also runs quiet, which is good for a change. I often run it while playing music. Combining trains and music is one of my pleasures.

Took this last night...

The subway for Flatbush Ave. and the N&W Fast Freight are both thundering through the switches in the upper and lower loop yards while the MTH Premier Chessie Show Train "The Gold Train" is waiting for clearance on the outer loop.

Had wanted one of these MTH Premier Chessie Show Train sets since cataloged about a decade ago. A chance encounter at the LHS allowed me to pick this mint set up from a longtime customer who I've known for many years that was reducing his collection. Purchased new at our LHS and always serviced there.
