I have Legacy and Legacy Berkshire C&O 2696 engine. I was running the Berkshire and I dropped the Legacy remote. I picked it up, nothing broken. But the engine would not move, everything else worked on the engine. I reprogrammed engine, no joy. I left it overnight after shutting down everything. Tried same engine, no joy. Reprogrammed no joy. Laid down remote and noticed the train brake was fully engaged, moved it to 1/4 way, WOW engine worked fine. Hence DUUUUUUHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

I got bit by the train brake a couple of times. My grandson likes to stop the trains with it using the second remote. He drops the remote into the charger still on with the brake engaged!
I've done the too! But the one that caused me to beat my head against the wall really hard was when I suddenly lost all engine sounds. The horn worked, the bell worked, crew and tower talk worked, but NO engine sounds. I'd reset the engine several times, powered everything off and back on again, and was studying the manual for help when I realised that I must have pressed AUX1 before adjusting the volume. I felt really stupid after that.
Lets be honest. We have all done that.
I did it on my vl hudson and was like wtf did i do.. Then saw the train brake and said wow...
Yes I have done it a few times and after whacking my head against the wall I looked at the brake. Felt like I should be elected for the Darwin award. Marty is right, we all have done it.
I am the king of duh, it's worse than errors when you realize the TIU is not plugged in. Now it is the first thing I check.
