I bought a Thomas the Tank Engine set for my 5 y/o for Christmas, but took the FasTrack out, added a few pieces, and set up a loop around the tree.  Naturally, everyone wanted more, and we do have some space, so I grabbed some spare O27 profile tubular track and set up a nice dog-bone like loop that's roughly 6' x 18'.  The problem is that our carpet has a fairly tall pile that comes up close to the top of the tubular track.  I need a roadbed.

My basement layout has foam roadbed under tubular track, but I don't see that as Tan option.  Clearly, the best option is to go buy some more FasTrack, but to replicate the dogbone loop would run about $200.  Any other recommendations for a roadbed on carpet central?

There ya go!  Problem solved!  I believe you'll be very satisfied with using FasTrack for a carpet layout, although if the carpet pile is really deep, it still wouldn't hurt to provide something with less "cushion" as a base.

It never hurts to have extra fastrack. I have bought it a lot when it is cheap in the "buy sell" forum.

Wait, who am I kiddding? I buy all the train stuff I own for cheap on the "buy sell" forum. Thank you OGR Forum. Might be the only way I am able to afford this hobby

Congrats on your bonus and Merry Christmas!
