Hello All:

Had a question about a FANDOR piece that I own. It is an O Gauge Tinplate Timber Wagon. The one I own has the FANDOR icon stamped into the metal deck of the train and it is visible on the bottom between the trucks. I recently saw one on EBAY that looked identical in every way (paint was better) - however the FANDOR icon was part of the lithography printed on the end over one of the couplers. Does anyone know if they (Fandor) produced BOTH styles or is something not right with one of these? Trying to determine which one came first and if they are authentic. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

To the best of my knowledge stamping is earlier.  I don't have any information about changing from stamping to printing. As for information about Fandor particularly exported to the U.S. there is very little available.  The most recent issue of the TCA quarterly has an article on Fandor cast iron and makes mention of a couple of earlier articles on Fandor (early as in decades past).  The only other source I know of is bits and pieces of information in the Hertz books.
