I have a Lionel GM Diesel addiction. My favorite PW sets are the Fairbanks Morse sets. There were 9 of them. My favorites were the 2243W of 1955 and 2285 of 1957. Then in the 1980s I owned and operated the 1984 Lackawanna SD40 set, 1985 Burlington Northern SD40 set, the 1986 Conrail SD40 set, the 1987 Chessie SD40 set and Canadian Pacific SD40 set. I do not remember if there was a SD70ACE set. I have a Union Pacific SD70ACE. I have 2223W from 1954. Those engines look nice running on O54 and even nicer on O72. I am happy that Lionel produced them and wish the had made ore sets in the other road names. I missed a Jersey central over long ago when it was selling for $70.00

The Lionel SD40 pulmor sets were very nicely done

The big SD40, nicely painted, pulling appropriately decorated freight cars

Those sets were beautiful. I loved the big Chessie diesel. The Chessie hoppers not so much.
