I just swapped my wheels out on a ac6000 from 3 rail to 2 rail, set the engine on the track it went for a second and died.  I took the board out and it is definitely fried.  Does anyone know why this would happen?  I would eventually like to upgrade to ps3 once the boards are available, should I just wait?  I took the scale wheels out and put them in another locomotive and everything worked just fine, I'm just baffled why the board blew in the first place.

thanks, paul

What model is this? Is it a PS-2 5V or a PS-2 3V system?  Are you talking scale wheels or 2 rail verses 3 rail wheels?  How do you know the board is fried?

PS-3 is probably a ways off for an upgrade kit.

Depending what board set it is it could be repairable.
