I really love this locomotive and I have an MTH Z1000. Can I run this with it? If I can't what would I need to buy to run this? Thank you.

Yes, you can. That engine has whistle steam though so you will be missing out on features like that unless you buy the Lionel Legacy system.

Whistle steam works in conventional or command, as long as the switch is on.

Awesome. Thank you guys! I read that you can use both systems. What Lionel system would I have to buy without breaking the bank. So I can run other Lionel engines including the Frisco.
The new Lionel engines include Bluetooth control. Do you use an iPhone by any chance? If so, you can download their free app and use your phone. Other than that, the cheapest way is the LionChief Universal Remote. It's about $40. That will get you going if you don't want to purchase full Legacy. But again, that will only work on new, Bluetooth equipped, engines.
