I posted this earlier somewhere here. Obviously in the wrong section. I am not good with the computer. This is on the New York Ontario and Western side of my layout. An A-B-A set of F-3's sits idling while the yard switcher pulls more loaded coal hoppers from the Whiting Coal Company Breaker and couple them up for the trip to Cedar Hill in New Haven. The lead to the breaker is in the center left of the picture. The units are Lionel post war units I painted about 25 years ago. The switcher doing the breaker work will be shown tomorrow on switcher Saturday.thumbnail [14)thumbnail [17)

Here's a photo for FeF from December of my LionMaster Big Boy 4006 with Polar Express characters on the front deck. I got out the Big Boy to pull the Polar Express several times because it looked cool leading the PE Passenger cars.

Just a technical note on the Big Boy LionMaster model; the condensers on top of the front deck would not have been there on the real 4006, as it was in the second order of 20 Big Boys, and ALCO had moved the condensers underneath the front deck behind the louvered doors. I can only imagine they were moved so UP personnel wouldn't burn themselves on them as they would be very hot! Only the first 5 Big Boys (4000-4004) where delivered with the condensers on top of the deck, and that was remedied shortly after delivery by relocating them under the deck performed by the UP shops.

Dusty beast!!

Well hello F.E.F fans, what great pictures and trains everyone has posted.  Thanks for a great time looking at the pictures and wondering how I can improve my layout and what trains I need to "hunt"....  Well my post today is the Marx B&O F-3 diesel, a long way from scale, especially in length, but a great tin lithographed locomotive for sure.  Today I have it heading up its set # 9452 contents of Marx 7 inch cars including the C514 Blue/Grey B&O caboose. The Marx 62 engine was made in 53-54 , 58, 67.  However the 7inch cars were phased out by the late 1950's and the C514 dates to about 1957.  Therefore this engine most likely dates from 1957-58.  This engine led Marx set # 9452 as pictured below which included the #37956 PRR "Merchandise Service" box and the 8082 Wabash gondola in yellow along with the C514 caboose.

So F.E.F fans here is the #62 Marx B&O F-3 from 1957-58 and her train.

Marx B&0 F3 front view

Interestingly according to my reference material, the powered A unit was available in 1953-54 as pictured, however, the unpowered A unit was not available until 1958 giving more credibility to dating the AA combination to 1958.

Set # 9452:  the #62 AA and 7 inch cars.

The beautiful lithographed C514 caboose.

Best wishes for a great weekend.

Happy " FEF "...........and...........HAPPY  "DID YOU BUY ANYTHING COOL LATELY " ..........and ........HAPPY  "HOW MANY TRAINS ARE ENOUGH ".......................

Went to a Friday fish fry at St. Joseph Chrch in Force Pa.  ...........just down the hill from Weedville Pa. .....and.....The Valley Farm Market.    So some of the Forum members know what comes next..

I violated my oath to be happy with my " enough  ".

Charlie was nice enough to set this engine  (  30- 1820 -1   Western Maryland   RK Imperial Challenger ) on his track to test it.   ( and Judy really liked the look of it  )

I fell prey to O guage art again.

Dallas - congratulations on your new purchase!!   Remember " enough" is never "enough".

I remember Valley Farm Market in Weedville.  In 2010 I made a special trip to that place.  That's where I found a 1953 Chevy garbage truck which fit in perfectly with the era that I model.  Only train store I ever saw where you the loafs of bread were right next to MTH boxcars.  A most unique store!  I'm glad to hear they are still selling trains!  I assume they are still selling bread too?

I hope you enjoy your new WM Challenger to the max.!!!  The Western Maryland had 12 of them.

Thanks Patrick.

Today was the first time in about a year that we had the occasion to see Charlie.  ( we had an unbelievable amount of necessary activity and  lost revenue last year )

We only have about a 35 minute trip to get to the VFM from our home.     How long did it take for you  to get there ?

Charlie still has the Lionel, MTH , some K-line right around the bread ,coffee machine ,hot dog grill , deli/dairy , general grocery shelves, candy tables and outside with the gas pumps and a special today with his car wash pump motors giving him issues.   Against the one back wall we discovered something new .....he now has new video arcade type games.    Quite the interesting and fun place.

Thanks for the info on the Challenger count at the WM.

Brings a whole new meaning to running to the store for a loaf of bread........

Great photos everyone and Dallas wonderful little video! If I came home with that I wouldn't be allowed to go anywhere without her! LOL

Thank you Mike.

Funny how things happen Mike.   Judy wanted to go to that fish fry and go to the Valley Farm Market.  She told me that I deserved to see Charlie and that it had been a long time since I did any purchases.         (  She is having countertops and flooring replacement planned  for the kitchen soon !!!     I doubt that had anything to do with it   )

Thanks for the nice compliment Dallas!

Those Sharks are Lionel models I purchased a few years ago - perhaps the first release.

Side note - these had been special ordered by my local hobby shop and the party that ordered them cancelled for some reason. Knowing I am partial to the "SP", the Manager showed them to me and they quickly found a new home.
