I want to upgrade my 20-2563-1 FT ABA Diesel set.
has anyone done this on an FT ABA set, the A units specifically.

They are PS-2, why do you want to upgrade them; and what type of upgrade? They can be repaired if broken. G
Yes I realize they can be repaired. I have had this set repaired 2 times in the past 3 years for the same issue and had the slave board go out in the trailing unit a week ago. Fortunately I had a spare that MTH repaired when they repaired the Locomotive a year ago maybe year and a half. Hoping the upgrade would make the train more reliable. I like it very much and this is the longest I have been able to run it.
Looking at upgrading to PS 3.0 either with the upgrade kit or the stack board with the PS3 top board.
I do have a slave board that needs repaired.
Expensive to upgrade when it can be repaired. PS-2 3V is a good board. Your slave board can be repaired, I do that. If you want PS-3 then both have to be upgraded. The PS-3 diesel does not work with a PS-2 slave. So both units upgraded.
A PS-32 stacker can upgrade the Lead A, but why? It does work with Slave board.
If your PS-2 3V board is bad, that may be repairable too. E-mail in profile. G
As far as I can tell the 3V board is ok.
Is PS3 not a better system? PS2 is obsolete and getting harder to find parts for.
PS3 has been out 10 years now and parts for these may soon be a problem getting. And the parts are smaller on the PS2 board making it harder to replace some of them over PS2 boards.
PS-2 3v is obsolete, but it is a pretty sturdy and easier repaired board. PS-3 has limited repair potential because of the micro mini parts used. G
