Gabe the lamplighter accessory

I swapped out the solenoid/ratchet assembly for a small gearbox to use the string as a winch.  I should say this was on a flyonel repro.  I have a custom controller which handles the lighting and direction but it could be done a bit more manually.

I have this accessory on my layout. I send old Gabe halfway down the ladder and start him up the ladder again. It works!

There should be a way to automate Gabe using a timing circuit, some flip-flops and a relay, but I'm not an EE.  I'm sure someone on the electrical forum could figure it out.
