I am installing TMCC in a Williams Amtrak Genesis engine. It appears to have a pair of headlights centered near the nose. Then two red lights flanking the headlights and then two white lights below the red lights. I am guessing the two lower white lights are ditch lights though they seem kind of high?? What about the red lights. When would they be turned on. Are they class lights or warning light for reverse running or do they have some other use?

For the record I have minimal knowledge or vintage diesels and know even less about more modern engines and practice.

They're red marker lights. If the engine was on the rear of the train, they'd be lit as rear end markers. Or other purpose where markers would be lit.

They're not on while moving forward.

I'd probably just stick red LEDs in there and either wire them to the reverse light so they come on in reverse only, or not wire them at all.

The white lights below the markers are the ditch lights.
