It depends on the cable (and of course the frequency) but you might figure about a max of a half db per foot at 2.4 GHz...and maybe a quarter db per connector. So if you buy a 10 db gain antenna and use a 6 foot coax, you might loose 3.5 db of that gain. Still ok and maybe not so much as this depending on what coax you buy. You can ask/look when you buy.

Depends on which signal you're taking about.  It will improve the 2.4Ghz signal between the cab-2 and the base.  This will only make a difference if you see the red light on the Cab-2.  It will do nothing for the signal to the engine.
