We have in our CLUB Room, an American Flyer Layout operating on Legacy Control. A while back I updated the System to Vi.53. Ever since, all the Diesels and Steam Engines have a very unusual operation. When you fire up an Engine on Legacy, all the Engines start up in reverse. I recently updated their System to V1.54. NO CHANGE, all the Engines on start up go in reverse. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas ????

Depends.  The Legacy remotes Direction / Boost / Brake button are all the same.  This would have to be stuck in the direction change axis which is push down.

I did mention if its all remotes to rule out an oddity of the remote.

Marty,

Lets hold up on any conclusions on this problem. I ran two of his Legacy Engines last Sat., a Diesel and a Steam Engine.  The Diesel was Ok, but the Steam Engine started up in reverse. I told him to bring two "OTHER" Engines in next Sat.and, he said he would. Maybe we can come up with an answer then!! Will let you know the outcome!

Marty,

I tested two "OTHER" Engines he had Saturday. They both started in the Forward Direction. SO, the problem is the "ONE" Engine always starts in the REVERSE Direction. It is not the LEGACY System. Now that Engine (he tells me),has been at Lionel, for repair a couple of times. Are you interested in repairing it, or should I have him return it to Lionel (again)?

Please advise! FREDSTRAINS

The only American Flyer Engine that does this is his "Big Boy"Engine. When you activate the Track (Put 18 volts on it), the backup light comes on the Tender. Then when you input the code for that Engine, and Turn the Velocity Wheel on the CAB2, it moves Backwards. I checked to make sure there was no "LASHUP" set up in the CAB2 .He is at wits end & so am I. He had sent this Engine to Lionel, sometime back for repair, but does not remember why!!

Please advise,

Fred
