Hi Members, I have a Texas Special F3 A, that I'm refurbishing, airbrushing etc.  My question is that the train runs very well in my opinion, (with what knowledge that I have)but I've noticed from day 1, on buying it off of ebay that when the train runs and i believe it's speed is good, the front Pickup roller sparks alot while the train runs.  Is there a need for concern here?  None of my other F3's does this and if this is a problem what can I do ?  Replace the pickup wheel ?  I need answers once again and as usual my thanks to all of you AGAIN.   MARSHELANGELO

Could be dirt or old oil on the roller axle. Clean the roller as best you can and put a TINY drop of oil or graphite at each end. Then turn it by hand. Run it and see if there is any improvement.

Sometimes turning the roller quickly with a Dremel Tool helps. Don't use an abrasive head. Use something smooth and (relatively) soft.

One more possibility is a loose wire/connection at the truck. Check that, too.

This is a common problem. It usually has a simple solution.

Good Luck!  Keep us posted.
